ATTENTION: OWNERS & OPERATORS OF COMMERCIAL POOLS

URGENT NOTICE: Effective Dec 20, 2008, all commercial pools must comply with the recently passed
"Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act"

(PUBLIC LAW 110-140-DEC. 19, 2007)

Any commercial pool not complying with this law must be closed and blocked to prevent any physical access. Violators may be subject to State and Federal fines and/or imprisonment.

In December 2007, the US government passed a national pool & spa safety law to minimize the likelihood of human entrapment, evisceration or drowning in public or private swimming pools. All commercial pools in the state of Connecticut must comply with this law by December 20, 2008, or be subject to fines, closure and/or further legal action by state and federal authorities.

The key points of this new law have been summarized in this letter by the Association Of Pool & Spa Professionals (APSP), and also in this APSP Compliance Guide. More info is available at the US government website (http://www.poolsafely.gov/pool-spa-safety-act/read/) and the APSP website (http://www.apsp.org/clientresources/documents/ANSI-APSP-7_Fact_Sheet.pdf).

The safest and fastest way to determine if your pool meets the new state and federal guidelines is to schedule a safety inspection by a trained and licensed industry expert.
